Barangays in Iriga City started Blood Donation Campaign

IRIGA CITY started Blood Donation Campaign last April 8, 2008, spearheaded by Hon. Jose Ll. Grimaldo, Liga President. Together with the Barangay Captains, Liga meeting in its conduct of their regular session, supports and implements the National Voluntary Blood Services Program.
Fifteen out of 36 barangays of the city have initiated the first advocacy campaign and Mobile Blood Donation which started last May to inject the blood program in their respective barangays.
The effective response of the people on the Voluntary Blood Donation instigates the Barangay Officials to intensify the campaign in the area. Clustered barangays includes Centro Unit, Mountainous, Riverside, and Poblacion area that participated during the conducted Mobile Blood Donation last December 2008.
244 blood units were collected and stored at BMC, accountable to the respective barangays and 66 units were able to provide to patients confined in BMC and also to other private hospitals as well.
Mr. Chester Velasco, who is also an Irigueno, together with Mr. Joemy Carpo, Blood Bank Nurse Coordinator exerted effort to establish the Blood Program in the city, particularly in the barangay.
