Renovating BMC Blood Bank:
"A DREAM COME TRUE”

The office of the Center for Health Facility Development - Department of Health, thru Dr. Criselda G. Abesamis allocates funds for the renovation of the Blood Bank and Transfusion Service following her visit last June 14, 2008. Dr. Abesamis personally visited the Blood Bank section right after the celebration of the World Blood Donor Day - Paduruguan ‘08 held in Calabanga, Camarines Sur, wherein the BMC - NVBSP was the main initiator. Along with her visit were Dr. Andres Bonifacio, OIC of the Philippine Blood Center; and Ms. Cynthia Rabadam, Quality Assurance Officer of the PBC - NVBSP.
Dr. Abesamis noticed some of the structural arrangement and improper ventilation of the section and finally made a recommendation for a total renovation of Blood Bank. Mrs. Virginia Portuguez, BMC Budget Officer, confirmed the allocation of the fund for the said renovation after meeting with Dr. Bonifacio and the Budget Officer of the Center for Health Facility Development last January 12, 2009.
These are just among the multitude of contributions and supports from the proper authority that believes and apprehends the consolidated efforts of the staff and has collocated the BMC - Blood Bank of where it is right now.
For the management of the Bicol Medical Center both the out-going and in-coming Medical Center Chief, who has been very supportive in the operation of the National Voluntary Blood Services Program, we thank them all.
